I wake up at night thinking about product design. I am always in the middle of, at the end of, or at the beginning of designing new features or products. My mom calls me the nutty professor because blank sketch pads make me so happy. Product design is my thing… it’s my God-given gift and I am grateful for it. Here is what I have learned over the years:
It has never been about me and has ALWAYS been about empowering my team to light up and execute on the vision. I might start it, but they finish it in ways that I could never have done on my own. True excitement comes to me when they have learned enough to start on their own. That’s tangible value.
Organizations lose out when they put their value on the top executives instead of on the team working in the trenches daily. Employee empowerment should focus on getting the invaluable buy-in from the team. This propels your business places you could not have imagined.
You fail when you see your team as just task runners. Empower them to own and execute on the vision. When you invest in employee empowerment, you would have created a magnificent engine for driving success in your organization.
