When we first launched our point of sale for small businesses into the market, boy were we excited! We had spent time baking in amazing features for small business owners and it was simply going to be awesome!

That is until our retailer got the first busy segment in the day and got so irritated with all the extra “cute” clicks and pop ups that just plainly wasted time. It did not take 10 minutes for us to realize that our idea of a great user experience was vastly different from reality because we had developed the solution in our “cute” software lab and not done real life testing. We had to go back to the drawing board to remove the barriers to adoption.

Even with the best product ideas, a bad user experience typically becomes a barrier to adoption. Take time to test your product with real customers so you can feel the reality and design accordingly. Do not underestimate the power of your customer’s voice.if you truly want your product to succeed, you should listen.
